Core Philosophy
The Mandt System emphasizes dignity and respect for all individuals. Its approach is based on the principle of building healthy relationships as the foundation for creating safe and supportive environments. The goal is to manage behavior through prevention rather than reacting to crises.

Three Levels of Support
The system is structured around three levels of support, each addressing different aspects of behavior management:
-
Level 1: Relational Skills
This level focuses on relationship-building, communication skills, and conflict resolution. It emphasizes understanding individuals' needs, recognizing early signs of distress, and using proactive strategies to prevent escalation. -
Level 2: Technical Skills
When preventive measures are not enough, this level teaches de-escalation techniques. It includes strategies to safely intervene during situations where individuals might become aggressive, distressed, or non-compliant, aiming to calm and stabilize the situation without physical intervention. -
Level 3: Physical Skills
Physical interventions are only used when there is an immediate risk of harm. This level focuses on safe, respectful techniques to manage physically aggressive behavior when necessary. The goal is to protect both the individual and others, using the least restrictive methods possible.
